Corrado De Meo
Corrado De Meo, born in Livorno in 1949, is an artist known for his innovative and contemporary jewelry creations. He initially pursued a degree in sociology and wrote a thesis on the subject. However, in the late 1970s, he decided to follow his passion for creating jewelry.
Throughout his life, Corrado De Meo embarked on extensive travels to various parts of the world. He was deeply fascinated by the anthropological roots of different cultures. This interest in cultural diversity and the human experience likely influenced his artistic approach.
In 2005, he made a significant shift in his work, dedicating himself to contemporary jewelry research. His jewelry pieces are distinctive for their large sculptural volumes and remarkable lightness, which he achieves through the use of innovative materials and techniques.
One of the central themes in his work is the concept of entropy and transformation. He recognizes that all materials are subject to change, but according to the physical laws governing their structure, each transformation maintains a coherent harmony and aesthetic balance. De Meo captures and symbolizes these moments of transformation in his jewelry. His work is a conceptual exploration of how every new transformation in life corresponds to a new aesthetic harmony. He aims to emphasize the idea that matter, in its constant state of change, continues to possess a poetic and timeless beauty.
In summary, Corrado De Meo is an artist who has transitioned from sociology to the world of contemporary jewelry, with a focus on the transformative nature of materials and the beauty that emerges from the interplay between structure, change, and aesthetics.
